Driehaus Museum Photography and Film Policies

Personal Formal Photography

Including engagements, weddings, fashion shoots

  • Limited to public spaces with few or no collection objects, including our Main Hall, Staircases, Outside Entrance, Murphy Auditorium, Ballroom, and 3rd Floor Galleries
  • Flat fee for up to 4 hours: $1500
  • Pricing beyond 4 hours negotiated on a case-by-case basis
  • Price includes shoots up to four people, including photographer
  • Additional guests cost $50 per person, maximum ten people
  • All participants must sign and acknowledge guidelines and photo releases
  • Photographer must have a Certificate of Insurance or group must pay a $500 incidental deposit to the Museum
  • A member of Museum staff will be present for the duration of the shoot
  • Photoshoots must occur when the Museum is closed; Mondays and Tuesdays unless otherwise discussed, and must wrap before 6pm
  • All equipment must be rubberized or have felt or tennis balls covering floor contact points
  • Groups must contact events@driehausmuseum.org at least two weeks before proposed shoot date

Professional Academic Photography

Including book covers, articles, magazines, educational materials, documentaries

  • Flat fee for up to 4 hours: $500
  • Photoshoots must occur when the Museum is closed; Mondays and Tuesdays unless otherwise discussed, and must wrap before 6pm
  • If objects need to be highlighted specifically and thus moved, a separate rate will be negotiated
  • Photographer must have a Certificate of Insurance or pay a $500 incidental deposit to the Museum
  • All equipment must be rubberized or have felt or tennis balls covering floor contact points
  • All participants must sign and acknowledge guidelines and photo release

Personal and Influencer Photography and Film

  • Guests are welcome to take photos for personal, non‑commercial use
  • Camera usage may not disrupt or pose a perceived danger to other guests, staff, or any objects within the Museum
  • Flash photography is prohibited to protect our collections and historic spaces
  • Video is not permitted without prior approval from Museum staff
  • Tripods, microphones, and selfie sticks are not permitted without prior approval from Museum staff
  • When a special exhibition lender has prohibited photography and video of a specific object, this will be noted with signage
  • Photos posted on social media (#driehausmuseum) may be highlighted on the Driehaus Museum’s Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok pages

While filming is generally not permitted in the Museum during public hours, we welcome inquiries from influencers and other interested individuals. Please contact communications@driehausmuseum.org to discuss options. All requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
